Globalimar Europa, S.L. participates in the Girona 100 Index of the main Girona companies
The 100 most important companies in Girona, including Globalimar Europa, S.L., remain optimistic regarding the current economic environment, despite the negative impact of the war in Ukraine, which has drastically affected the energy costs of raw materials. The prospects survey of the Girona 100, S.A. index -prepared by KPMG with the collaboration of the Cambra de l'Empresa Familiar Chair of the University of Girona- is a study that aims to analyze the current situation and the economic and financial trends of the province of Girona in the short and medium term, from the 100 companies in Girona with the highest turnover.
The companies consider that, in the current context, there are some challenges to overcome. It is observed that the increase in the cost of raw materials is the most common problem among companies, shared by about 60% of businessmen and managers. This is followed by the increase in the cost of energy (53%), the lack of qualified personnel and the difficulty in retaining talent (32%), the decrease in profitability (27%), legal or political uncertainty in general (13 %) or the drop in consumption (10%).
The solution to these problems happens, for 51% of those surveyed, through aid from the administrations linked to the rise in prices of energy and raw materials, through investment incentives (42%), through the reduction of bureaucracy and tax simplification (38%), due to simpler and more flexible labor agreements (36%) and lower taxes (33%). They also point to aid from administrations to finance business projects through European funds (27%).
The majority of Girona businessmen and managers assure that in 2021 turnover, staff and activity abroad increased. Despite this, the companies of the Girona 100, S.A. their turnover decreased after eleven consecutive years of growth, with a decrease of 2% compared to 2019.
Girona companies have managed to recover remarkably after the pandemic, with very good results; For this reason, 40% of those surveyed have decided not to make any adjustments during 2022, which has been ideal for thinking about medium-term projects, such as improving profitability or advancing in digital and organizational transformation.
